2 Nephi Chapter 9

Our first discussion will be on 2 Nephi Chapter 9, which is what I was reading this morning. Post your thoughts on anything in this chapter. I will be checking for comments periodically throughout the day.

I'll start with an example of what I mean. As I was reading verse 18 I wrote this in my study journal - "What crosses will I have to bear? What trials and tribulations will I have to endure in order to return home to Heavenly Father? I don't know. None of us do, but we should always remember that the fires of tribulation forge us into something we could never do by ourselves. Be grateful for the opportunities you have been given to be molded into something better. That is what Heavenly Father is doing with you."

  1. adding to Val's comments: I have confused what I thought was failure, when it was actually a cross. I had done the best I knew how but felt I was a failure, but years later I came to know that it was a test, and I had done well. As it is written in the words of the hymn Nearer My God to Thee, "even though it be a cross that rasieth me" If God uses a cross to raise you up, it is because there was no easier way to bring you home

  2. Val knows better than many some of the things our family has had to put up with. (Some of the crosses) but some of the "miracles" that have come with those crosses have helped ease those crosses. And there were even times that it seems we couldn't go one more step. Those times we called on the Lord to help us take that next step we very precious learning and growing times.
